The road so far

The road so far...

The road so far...

I was born in 1973 in Sofia, Bulgaria, to a true theatre and film dynasty.

I have more than 24 years of experience in the arts, media and marketing. Additionally, I hold a master's degree in Theatre acting and I completed a Master's training programme in TV & Film Directing. I also spent three years as a postgraduate researching theatre history.

My first videography experience was as a teenager when I laid my hands on a Panasonic NV-M10, an impressive at that time VHS camcorder, which I used to film some music video for my school band. It was an enjoyable experience. There were no video editing hardware and software available at that time. We had to plan the shots carefully, we started and stopped the camera between the shots, and we performed live during the filming to capture the sound in-camera. The videos, albeit amateurish, were pretty decent. I still wonder how we were able to pull this off.

My professional background

My passion for improvement and acquiring new skills and the desire to widen my professional horizon have driven me to seek various work opportunities that have rewarded me with knowledge, expertise, and a unique perspective on both video producing and video marketing.

I started my career as a stage actor. Then, during my postgraduate studies, I published a book on the history of theatre. With my publisher's help, I organised and directed the book premiere of the book that took place on the small stage of the Bulgarian National Theatre. For the year 2002 in Bulgaria, it was an innovative multimedia presentation, combined with live stage performance and screen projections. This was my first experience as a video editor, putting together audio, photos, and video for the spectacle's multimedia part.

At that period, I worked as an Art Manager of a small independent theatre in Sofia. Together with another stage director, we producer a stage play with multimedia elements, screening during the play pre-recorded video pieces combined with captured live on-stage performance. I was in charge of the videography and video editing part of the project, and the experience with my book premiere helped me a lot with this.

In 2005 I produced and directed a documentary about my grandfather, one of the contemporary Bulgarian theatre founders. The documentary was aired on Bulgarian National Television and launched my TV and Film career.

For several years I worked as a producer and director for a television channel and as a member of a post-production team in WorldWide FX, post-production and VFX division of NU Boyana film studios - the studio behind Rambo IV, Olympus Has Fallen, London Has Fallen and The Expendables.

I also have under my belt a short sci-fi film and a short fantasy machinima animated movie. During my TV and film career, however, I have not forgotten my love for acting. I have frequently appeared in small roles in various international film productions and TV advertisements and have freelanced as a voice actor for Bulgarian National Television.

In 2005-2013, I also worked with numerous marketing and digital agencies as a designer, Art Director, and Head of DTP departments.

SBS Creative

Since I moved with my family to the UK in 2013, I started freelancing as a video producer and designer, filming and editing ice hockey games for the National Ice Hockey League (NIHL), designing and producing online H&S online courses for a training and education company as well as filming and producing video dance classes for a dance teacher.

In late 2014 I was commissioned as a video editor by the video production company Captive8 Media. My post-production studio became de facto their video editing department, resulting in more than 1000 commercial, corporate and product videos to date.

In 2015 I started trading under the name SBSCreative, and I'm offering my knowledge, experience and expertise to SMEs, agencies, video production companies and fellow video creators since then.
